ATTENDED A 32 HOUR COURSE AT SAN DIEGO ELECTRICAL TRAINING CENTER.  IN CLASS WENT OVER SAFETY ITEMS SUCH AS SWITCHGEAR AND PANEL ARC FLASH REQUIREMENTS.  UNDERGROUND EXCAVATION REQUIREMENTS.  EXISTING LOAD CALCULATIONS TO SEE IF PANEL OR SWITCHGEAR PROPERLY SIZED FOR ADDITIONAL LOAD.  IN ADDITION, VOTAGE DROP CALCULATIONS FOR PROPER WIRE SIZING AND OVER CURRENT PROTECTION DEVICES.

 

BOTTOM LINE IS, YOU CAN’T  JUST ADD A 40 AMP BREAKER AND THINK ALL IS WELL.  THIS IS A CONTINOUS LOAD, THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS FOR YOUR MAIN BREAKER TO TRIP CHARGING A VEHICLE.  image-php
